The Constellation is an ever-evolving painting of deep space. It is a single painting made from a multitude of parts, where each part contains an image of a star forming. Parts are distributed widely, the painting existing in multiple places – connecting domestic and private settings, public and institutional frameworks. In response to demand over the coming days, months and years, more parts are made and the painting changes dimension.

Research notes: images of the intangible
‘Star formation happens in dark areas of the night sky – the internal space of a molecular cloud, where stars are forming, is invisible to the human eye. The formation process involves gas, dust, gravity, turbulence, energy, pressure, accretion, collapse and a million years. In these long-duration dynamic processes the energy of becoming remains in a constant state of flux – here, the celestial imaginary is made of unformed matter, the not yet, indeterminate, uncertain.’
